Clay Piece:
In this project I made a frog out of clay. The chicken on the right is done by someone else in my art class. I have used clay before in previous art classes so this wasn't the first time I have used it. Although I did learn new techniques for using clay. I learned how to make pinch pots to start the body of animals, that you need to put a hole in the body so it doesn't explode and that you need to score and slip to get the different parts to stick nicely. I found this piece successful because it turned out cute and all in one peace. I did have issues getting the tiny feet to stick because they were so small and might need to find a way to better do that. I think I could have done better with making it look more clean, but I thought it turned out good either way. If I did this project again, I would try making other objects and trying to add more detail with the different clay tools.
Land Art:
In this piece my table group and I had to go around the school and make some sort of art out of things we found in nature. We walked across a dewy field and left patterns on the grass. I learned a lot from this project. There are many things in nature that if you look closer at them, they can be art, and that some art doesn't have to stay forever, it can be made to wash away. That is what I found cool about this project. This piece is successful because it is something different that I would have never thought of doing before and I am proud that we thought to do this because it ended up being a cool project. If I were to do this project again, I would obviously look at other things in nature I could have made projects out of. But, I would also try this same medium again, but plan out what I was going to make and make it look better.
Styrofoam Art:
In this project I made art out of styrofoam. I chose to make an ice cream cone. In this project I learned that, first of all, styrofoam is very hard to work with. But, I also learned how you can use almost any object or material and turn it into art. I thought this was a cool project and it made me think about what other materials I could use to make into art. This piece is successful because it actually turned out to look like ice cream. I think I could have done better on it, but at least you can tell what it is and it is something different. If I were to do this project again I would do it on a much bigger scale and put a little bit more time into it so the final product would turn out a little better.
