I Take Risks:
For this project I made a stencil of a penguin and a killer whale combined. I chose to do a stencil because either way the picture was going to be black and white. So I figured using black spray paint on white paper to create the image would be a good idea. Although, I do find stencils kind of difficult and they aren't really my favorite medium to use. So, I considered doing this project with stencils would be a risk. There are so many ways you can mess it up, and the last time I used stencils, it didn't turn out that good. While doing the project I had to be very careful and very precise to make sure that in the end the finished product would look like a penguin whale.
I Solve Problems:
I came across a few problems during this project. I chose to do a stencil as my medium so showing value and different colors would be difficult. There were parts in my penguin whale where you needed to have other colors besides just the black and white to make it look real and the way its supposed to . At first I was going to layer the stencils and do multiple ones, but that wasn't going to work out. I had already thrown my stencil away so I couldn't just spray paint over the spots I'd left out to be another color. So, I decided I could fix that with paint. I made a gray paint and used that to paint in the places I had left out to be another color. Another problem I came across, was the spray paint leaking into places where it shouldn't be. So, to fix this I took a layer of white paint over all mistakes to cover them up and make it look like they didn't happen.
